My real name is Tim and whilst I consider myself reasonably fit for my age, I am and always have been a spastic. For those of you who don't know or don't fully understand the meaning of this medical term, spastic simply means I have limited muscular control and that my body is subject to muscular spasm. In my particular case these spasms cannot be controlled without regular doses of prescription medication. I have Spastic Hemiplegia which is a life-long condition, not an illness. Because of this I have restricted use of one entire side of my body. My upper body is affected more than my leg and as I've grown older, I've developed memory, mobility and balance issues. Also if my concentration lapses, I am prone to dribble. At my age, dribbling is perhaps a little more acceptable than when I was a younger man. Back then it was just plain embarrassing!
